Sizes and measurements
One measurement, every stole.
Every FOGRIO stole is 104 in end to end: 52 in per side, 3 in wide at the back of the neck and 4.5 in at the ends. On the embroidered and simple cross stoles, the 104 in includes a 2 in fringe at each end.
Check it against a stole you already wear
Lay your own stole flat and measure one side, from the centre back of the neck to the bottom edge. Compare that with our 52 in. Stole length is quoted per side in the trade, measured the same way.
| Overall, every stole | 104 in, which is 52 in per side |
|---|---|
| Embroidered and simple cross | 100 in of fabric and a 2 in gold fringe at each end |
| Stained glass | 104 in of fabric, clean squared hems, a dark printed border, backed in black satin, no fringe |
| Centre-back neck width | 3 in |
| Width at the ends | 4.5 in |
| Embroidery (embroidered and simple cross stoles) | Stitched on the stole itself, just above the fringe at each end, and a cross at the centre back of the neck |
The taper from 3 in at the neck to 4.5 in at the ends is deliberate. It reaches the trade's standard width at the hem while staying narrow where it crosses the shoulders.
Length quoted per side, and 4.5 in as the standard width (typically between 4 and 6 in), per Ecclesiastical Sewing, how to determine the correct stole length.
