The gold embroidery is stitched into the cloth on both ends, never a patch or a print. The cloth is backed in satin, and each end finishes in 2 inches of gold fringe. 104 inches end to end: 52 a side, 3 inches wide at the neck and 4.5 at the ends.

The embroidery is stitched on the stole itself, not a patch.

Prefer something simpler? The purple simple cross stole, one gold cross on each end, is $29.99.

What it means

The star is the star of Bethlehem that the wise men followed (Matthew 2). Wheat and grapes are the bread and wine of Communion. Purple is the colour of preparation: for Christ's coming in Advent, and for Easter through Lent.

A gold Latin cross with a star, ears of wheat, grape leaves and two bunches of purple grapes on a gold vine.

When it is worn

The Roman Missal names violet or purple for Advent and Lent, and purple serves both seasons in Episcopal, Lutheran and Methodist use. Some churches use blue in Advent instead, which is why this is offered as a season stole and not as the season's only answer.
