The gold embroidery is stitched into the cloth on both ends, never a patch or a print. The cloth is backed in satin, and each end finishes in 2 inches of gold fringe. 104 inches end to end: 52 a side, 3 inches wide at the neck and 4.5 at the ends.

The embroidery is stitched on the stole itself, not a patch.

Prefer something simpler? The Veni Emmanuel stole, one gold cross on each end, is $29.99.

What it means

The prophet foretold a shoot from the stump of Jesse (Isaiah 11:1), and the carol "Lo, How a Rose E'er Blooming" sings of it as a rose in the winter night. Blue is the Advent colour of hope in many churches.

A gold Latin cross over a rose and a rosebud in three pinks, on a gold stem rising from a cut stump.

When it is worn

Blue is worn in Advent in many Lutheran churches and in some Episcopal and Methodist churches, as a colour of hope; others keep violet or purple. Advent begins on the fourth Sunday before Christmas.
