What it means
The rainbow is God's sign of promise after the flood, a covenant with every living creature (Genesis 9:13). It belongs to no single season: a design for churches that welcome its use.
Printed full length in a spectrum of colour and drawn with charcoal lines, like the leading in stained glass, with clean squared hems.
When it is worn
The rainbow is not a liturgical colour: it is assigned to no season and no occasion in the Roman Missal, in Common Worship, in the Scottish Episcopal calendar, in Lutheran guidance or in the Methodist Book of Worship. It is a design for churches that welcome its use; if it is a gift, check the church's practice first.
